Interview with June Matthews and Laurel Cooper

Published on Publisher Website: 02-16 -22

Where did you get the ideas for your book?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
As a skeptic I moved into what is referred to as a Haunted House. The media portrays the paranormal as evil in most instances. I wanted to share true events, and help others see the afterlife for what it is. Human beings that have passed on.

LAUREL COOPER:
The house I lived in with my parents has paranormal activity. While trying to understand what was happening, we explored ways to communicate and wanted to share with those methods with others.

What do you think makes a good story?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
Real life, True Paranormal, True stories about people.

LAUREL COOPER:
A Quote from SCREAM "My Life"

What was the most surprising thing you discovered while writing your book?

LAUREL COOPER:
That the rules kept changing, I learned that the requirements for communicating were more important than I ever realized.

JUNE MATTHEWS:
What a good writer my daughter is and the level of empathy she has for the human soul.

Why is your book interactive?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
Reading about communicating with the other side is more impactful if you can also watch the communication session in action.

LAUREL COOPER:
For me, if I read and see what is happening, I can absorb the information better.

What are you working on next?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
A 2nd Edition of my first book THE RELIVING A True Story about PTSD and The Paranormal, It is also an interactive book with videos and testimonials of the paranormal activity in our home. That took me from Skeptic to believer. It will also be available on Smashwords.

LAUREL COOPER:
My next book will be THE GIFTED ONES about coming to terms with the reality of the paranormal in my life, from age six - now.
Continuing research of the paranormal and the study of Astro physics.

How has Smashwords contributed to your success?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
We were originally going to use kindle; they had created a problem with the preview of our book. When we tried to talk with "customer service" we were sent to an outsourced person who had no idea how to answer any questions and had no knowledge of their system. When we contacted Smashwords our questions were answered, there is actual customer service, and they provide our readers with a variety of options for reading e-books. I will be moving my hard cover books to Smashwords in the future. Customer service means everything, for us and that means they take care of our readers as well.

UPDATE: We resolved the issue and now Their Rules is also available on Kindle

LAUREL COOPER:
After dealing with the issues my co- author referred to, I wanted to give up all together so I can say SMASHWORDS gave me the confidence to write more books.

What do your fans mean to you?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
My life was very difficult, and my self-esteem was never good. One of the big factors in understanding I had worth and was liked came after my first book, The fans reviews were amazingly kind and loving, that level of love from a stranger can change your life.

LAUREL COOPER:
I value anybody who would read what I wrote, I feel like they are not fans but family.

When you're not writing, how do you spend your time?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
We live in a house that has paranormal activity. My family and I spend a considerable amount of time documenting the activity in our home. When we are not researching the paranormal, we are playing with our 160-pound dog, Dexter. (Any free time is spent cleaning up after Dexter)

LAUREL COOPER:
I am normally doing paranormal investigations for my channel and researching The Drake Equation as found in Astro physics.
Researching and examining evidence from all aspects of the paranormal.

What are your favorite books, and why?

JUNE MATTHEWS:
Stephen King Books- I love the way he writes
A True Haunting by Edwin Becker, the first book I read about the paranormal that was not exaggerated. Also, a friend.

UPDATE: Edwin Becker was a good friend and is missed

LAUREL COOPER:
